The three conditions
Admission to IIM Mumbai's Blended Post Graduate Program in Management – MBA (MBA–BPGP) rests on three conditions, all taken from the official programme page:
- Graduation: a bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% for SC, ST and PwD candidates) from a recognised university or institution
- Experience: a minimum of three years of relevant work experience in any business organisation after graduation
- Entrance: a CAT, GMAT or GRE score not older than five years, or an attempt at IMAT, the IIM Mumbai Admission Test
CAT, GMAT, GRE or IMAT — which route?
| Option | What it is | Usually best if |
|---|---|---|
| CAT, GMAT or GRE | A score you already hold, not older than five years | You have a recent score and want to avoid another test |
| IMAT | IIM Mumbai's own admission test, based on the CAT exam pattern | You have no valid score, or your score is older than five years |
The page notes that the five-year window is counted from a cut-off month that moves with each academic year — for the 2025–26 cycle it was June 2020 onwards — so check the cut-off for your intake rather than counting back from today.
What the programme page now tells you — and what it still doesn't
For Batch 03 the page publishes the Round 1 schedule: applications close on 15 November 2026, IMAT is on 22 November 2026, personal interviews start from 29 November 2026, and results and offer letters follow on 8 December 2026. Selection runs through online application, eligibility-based shortlisting, a personal interview, a merit list and fee payment. The full timeline is in our dates and fee plans guide.
Still not stated:
- How scores or IMAT results are weighed against profile, if at all
- How the work-experience cut-off applies to your batch — the page still cites 31 December 2025
Put these questions to the counsellor before you commit time to preparation.
Preparing for a CAT-pattern test
CAT is organised around verbal ability and reading comprehension, data interpretation and logical reasoning, and quantitative ability. Since IMAT follows the CAT pattern, practising those three areas is the sensible baseline. Working professionals tend to do best with a short, regular schedule and timed practice rather than long, irregular study blocks.
Fee, loans and next steps
The programme fee is ₹15,00,000 including all applicable taxes on the annual plan (₹16,00,000 on the module-wise plan), and education-loan options from leading banks are available. A practical checklist:
- Confirm your degree percentage and your work-experience count against the cut-off
- Decide whether to use an existing score or sit IMAT
- Check the current intake dates on the official programme page
- Check the two fee plans (annual ₹15,00,000 or module-wise ₹16,00,000, both inclusive of taxes) and budget separately for campus-immersion travel, lodging and boarding, which participants bear
